Abuse has Many Faces
Abuse isn’t always physical. In fact, many women endure years of mistreatment without a single bruise.
Here are the most common forms of abuse women in the UK face today:
Emotional/Psychological Abuse:
Constant criticism, manipulation, humiliation, or threats. You may feel like you’re “always walking on eggshells.”
Physical Abuse:
Any use of force that causes harm or fear, hitting, pushing, choking, or physical intimidation.
Sexual Abuse:
Unwanted sexual contact, coercion, or being forced to perform acts against your will—even in a marriage or relationship.
Financial/Economic Abuse:
Being denied access to money, having your earnings taken, or being completely financially controlled.
Digital Abuse:
Harassment, stalking, or control through phones, social media, or GPS tracking.
Cultural/Spiritual Abuse:
Using faith, culture, or tradition to justify mistreatment or to silence and shame women into submission.
Many women, also some from ethnic minority, refugee, or migrant communities suffer in silence due to language barriers, immigration status, cultural stigma, or fear of authorities.
There Is Hope: How IWAC Can Help
At IWAC (Integration of Women Across Cultures), we believe no woman should walk this journey alone. We are a community of survivors, advocates, sisters, and allies who support, empower, and equip women through every stage of healing. Abuse doesn’t discriminate, it crosses every boundary of class, education, faith, and status. Whether you’re a CEO or a student, wealthy or struggling, devout or secular, abuse can find its way in. BUT SO CAN STRENGTH, COURAGE AND THE POWER TO RISE..
🕊 Final Word: You Are Not Alone
To every woman reading this:
You are worthy of safety, respect, and love.
ABUSE MAY HAVE TOUCHED YOUR LIFE BUT IT DOES NOT DEFINE YOUR FUTURE- BELIEVE IT AND LIVE IT
Whether you’re just now recognising the signs or have been surviving silently for years, help is here, and healing is possible. 💪 Let’s lift one another.
